Products & Glass Types

Q1: What types of glass do you offer for commercial buildings?

A: We offer a wide range of products including tempered toughened glass, laminated safety glass, insulated glass units (IGUs), low-emissivity (Low-E) glass, spandrel glass, fire-rated glass, and bullet-resistant glass. We also provide decorative options like silk-screened or fritted glass.

Q2: What is the difference between annealed, heat-strengthened, and tempered glass?

Annealed glass is standard float glass that cools naturally. It breaks into large, sharp shards and is typically used in areas where building codes do not require safety glazing.

Heat-strengthened glass is cooled slowly, making it twice as strong as annealed glass. It breaks into large pieces and is often used for spandrels or high-wind areas.

Tempered glass is cooled rapidly, making it four to five times stronger than annealed glass. When broken, it crumbles into small, pebble-like chunks for safety. It is required for doors, near floors, and in hazardous locations.

Q3: What is "Low-E" glass and why is it important for facades?

A:Low-E (Low-Emissivity) glass has a microscopically thin, transparent coating that reflects infrared energy (heat) while allowing visible light to pass through. In the summer, it keeps heat out; in the winter, it keeps heat inside the building. It significantly improves the energy efficiency of a building envelope and reduces HVAC costs.

Q4: Can you provide curved or bent glass for architectural features?

A: Yes, we specialize in architectural bent glass. We can provide cylindrical, curved, and custom-radius bent glass in both annealed and laminated forms for entrance canopies, curtain walls, and feature walls.
